During a boat trip to Utsira on 12 June 2020, Minister of Petroleum and Energy Tina Bru announced that the sea area west of the island municipality of Utsira will be opened for applications for renewable energy production at sea.
The area is 1,010 square kilometers, and will be clearly visible from land on Utsira. The nearest wind turbines will be only approx. 7 Km from us.
On the island of Utsira, it will be natural to establish bases as a starting point for activity in the sea and not least there will be great opportunities for delivery of services from here.
This will result in lower operating and maintenance costs. Spare parts for substations and other electrical components can be stored at Utsira.
Drone inspection and subsea inspection can be performed from the island, and both equipment and personnel will have reduced transport time in the open sea.
