One or more offshore substations will form the very heart of a future offshore wind farm at Utsira North, but they will also be cost-driving. Utsira municipality will therefore facilitate land areas on Utsira where land-based substations can be built. 

At the nearest Utsira north will be approx. 7 Km from Utsira, and the construction of a substation on Utsira can thus mean a significant cost reduction for the developers of Utsira North.
